Note 1(Chaviara-Axeskoufotos) Also known as Ivan/John/Johann. Merchant of Odessa, Ukraine. Founder of Ralli Brothers. US consul in Odessa 1831-61. Honoured in Odessa in 1840 and 1852.

Note 3Credited with being the real founder of the firm Ralli Brothers when he noted that the majority of his Livorno clients were English traders. However it was Pandias ‘Zeus’ Ralli who developed it into London’s trading giant.
Note 4Presumably he was the owner of the Ralli house on Sofieskaya Street, Odessa, in which jewellery was being made and sold in 2005.
