Note 2We suppose that he was the father Antonios Pandia Ralli buried 1848 at the Hellenic Enclosure, West Norwood. No other Ralli candidate of this period would appear to fit...
Note 3His parents were two Rallis. He married a Ralli (though his mother-in-law was a Mavrogordato). One of his sons, Ambrose, married two Rallis!

Note 1Known to her family as 'Divine Wisdom' - a reference to the Greek priests' exhortation before the gospel reading: 'Sophia -Orthi'.
Note 2According to Dominie Vlasto she once said, regarding marriage, to a group of girls:"Ah, my dears, I'm glad to find you congratulating Maria. She's a very sensible girl. You must all try to do as she has done - aim high but take what you can get."
Note 3The Ralli family were apparently horrified when he married Catina. He died four years later leaving her impecunious and with a baby who was born and died after his death. She took Julia and Strati to Liverpool where her brother Aristide Cornelios lived.
Note 4Catina may have had a sister who married someone called Abbot. She said she wished to be buried in Allerton Cemetery "because the air is so good up there."
