Note 1A Paraskeva Sechiari was among the 74 island leaders held hostage by the Turks in the Kastro in Chios during the 1822 Massacre of Chios but released. Was this him or his cousin Paraskeva?
Note 2After the massacres he settled in Marseilles with his sons (including Auguste Sechiari) where the family had strong links with the Argentis and Rallis (see: 'Grecs et Philhellenes A Marseille' by Pierre Echinard (Institue Historique de Provence).
Note 3Catsiyannis says he lived on Chios until ca 1818 when he moved to Constantinople and then, before 1834, settled in Marseilles.
