Note 1This looks like a sad little marriage in which Kate Goddard, perhaps a fellow servant girl and sister of Rosina, stands in as a witness along with Michael’s brother Emmanuel (who had married an unlikely Rosina Goddard the year before...).

Note 2Widow of a Mr Canning in 1853. 1851 Census has her head of household with three daughters. Also there that night, two visitors: Michael George Rodocanachi and a servant called Eliza. Is this when Eleanor and Michael met or were they already lovers?
