Note 1Archdeacon of Auckland. He owned an 1868 silver teapot with his crest on it which, according to Noël Long (writing to CAL in 1974) passed to his “youngest daughter Dorothy” who was a good friend to her cousin Noël and left her many of her “nice things”.
Note 2In turn Noël gave this teapot to Christopher Long as a wedding present in 1973. However was she mistaken when she referred to a Dorothy who is not known to have been a daughter of Robert Long?
