Note 2After a curacy in the diocese of Canterbury, ordained deacon and priest by Archbishop Lang. Served in the RNVR during WWll being the first seagoing chaplain in a RN destroyer. Took part in actions to liberate Channel ports in 1944.
Note 3Domestic Chaplain at Lambeth Palace to Archbishop Fisher, including being present for the marriage and coronation of Queen Elizabeth ll, the funeral of her father and the baptisms of her first two children.
Note 4Incumbent at Bearstead, Kent and Petersfield, Hampshire, during the 1950s and 1960s. Became Archdeacon of Ely in 1970, combined with being Rector of St Botolph’s in Cambridge. On retirement he became the Diocesan Retired Clergy Officer.
