Note 1Her baptism certificate shows her maternal grandparents as her parents. She lived with them for several years until adopted by her mother’s husband Walter T Seymour.
Note 2Until her marriage she was journalist working on The Gentlewoman and from 1903 on the fashion pages of The Standard.
Note 3She led an interesting life as a journalist and left a remarkable collection of costumes, probably dating from her time on the fashion pages of The Standard 1903-1914, two of which have been presented to the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
