Note 2During the last third of his life he and Julia lived at Loddington Hall, a fine mediaeval hall (C13th?) enlarged in the in the C17th and again in 1893.
Note 3The people of Loddington Hall estate were greatly excited in 1948 when Stephen, president of Northants County Cricket Club, invited the Australian cricket team, including Don Bradman, to the hall on their rest day from Trent Bridge.
Note 4During WWll the hall may have been used to store British Museum artefacts.
Note 5Loddington Hall was sold in 1950 with 173 acres and by 2024 had become 12 luxury apartments.
