SpouseJulie Marie ‘Lilia’ ‘Figgy’ (Constantine) Pringo
Birth8 Apr 1901, Alexandria, Egypt
Death1977
MemoGlyn Gowans believes she died in 1977.
Note 1Glyn Gowans calls her ‘Lilia’ and a lifelong friend from childhood of Princess Marina of Kent and that they holidayed together. After the war, he says, she worked for a Paris fashion house and was known as Figgy because she said ‘figure-toi’ so often.
Note 2Glyn Gowans says Lilia voluntarily accompanied Prince Paul and Princess Olga to house arrest in Kenya in 1941 after the allegedly SOE-inspired Belgrade coup but was again in Alexandria by 1942 where she again met up with Cecil Beaton (a war photographer).
Note 3A close friend of Cecil Beaton and of the three daughters of Prince & Princess Nicolas (notably Olga). See Neil Balfour’s biography of Prince Paul of Yugoslavia, Hugo Vicker’s biography of Cecil Beaton and Sophia Watson’s biography of Princess Marina.
